WIP-ping up a hat – Episode 4

Posted by: Steve on: April 13, 2011

After a delay to obtain a small cable-length 6mm circular needle and 6mm DPNs (double pointed needles), I’ve finally finished the smocked tam for Jenny: Jenny’s thrilled!   I must admit that, though perhaps I shouldn’t say so myself, it looks really good.  The smocking process was very simple and gives a very nice effect  It [...]

WIP-ping up a hat – Episode 3

Posted by: Steve on: April 1, 2011

I’ve had to slow down with this project, as I’m lacking the 6mm DPNs needed at the end.   I’m now working the decreases anyway, so the end draws close. This project has gone very smoothly so far.  I just hope that it continues like that!

WIP-ping up a hat – Episode 2

Leaping Ahead

Posted by: Steve on: March 9, 2011

When I saw this pattern, I just had to make it!  The actual pattern is in Finnish but a combination of Google Translate and guesswork sufficed for me to dare it.  Why was it a “must do”?  Quite simple:  our daughter is nicknamed Frog (my doing, when she was little).  She collects frogs too.  It [...]

Two very different makes…

Posted by: Steve on: January 20, 2011

I finished this hat a while ago, but have only just managed to get a photo of it: It’s based on the Kuzco pattern published in Let’s Knit magazine (Issue 38, January 2011).  The tassels in the original weren’t wanted and the colours and intarsia design were altered to suit.  The intarsia designs are my [...]
